DR. HEIKO SCHIFFTER PRESENTS AT AAPS ANNUAL MEETING
24 NOVEMBER 2007
Dr. Heiko Schiffter, Consultant – Peptide and Protein Formulation for Particle Therapeutics gave a poster presentation at the 2007 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in San Diego, CA, on 11-15 November. The AAPS conference attracts more than 8,000 pharmaceutical scientists from around the world to discuss the latest research and discoveries impacting the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Schiffter presented his work on “High concentrated protein particles for needle-free ballistic powder delivery prepared via spray-freeze-drying”. The aim of his research was to demonstrate the feasibility of spray-freeze-drying highly concentratred aqueous protein suspensions to produce robust and stable insulin-loaded powders for particle injection. The model Dr. Schiffter has demonstrated may be used to formulate glucagon particles for emergency administration to diabetic patients with severe hypoglycaemia.
